Tuna Burgers

Canned tuna is the secret weapon hiding in plain sight right in our kitchen cupboards! Packed with omega-3 and high in protein too, American Tuna products provide a wealth of vitamins and minerals with no added oil, water, soy, or preservatives. Their pole and line caught tuna is both sustainable and traceable, and what better time to enjoy some of their incredible products than during American Heart Month?

This 10-minute family-friendly recipe is the perfect way to enjoy tender, flaky tuna- and thanks to it being packed in its own fish oil, there is little to no mess. The addition of fresh dill to the patties and to the tzatziki yogurt dressing is a little nod to the classic burger condiment – the pickle. The sharp, almost acidic notes from the dill cut through the sourness of the yogurt to compliment the bright, saline tuna flakes.

In a large mixing bowl, blend the tuna, breadcrumbs, chopped dill, spices and egg. Be sure to break down any larger chunks of tuna before molding the mix into patties.

Heat a pan on a medium heat and fry the patties for 3-4 minutes each side, until golden brown, and set aside.

Dice half the cumber and add to the yogurt and remaining fresh dill, stir then return to the fridge to chill for 10-15 minutes.

Peel the remaining half of the cucumber into thin ribbons and construct your burgers! Add a generous dollop of the tzatziki sauce to the bottom bun, followed by the tuna patty, cucumber ribbons and more tzatziki sauce.
