As we approach the end of October, I wanted to share with you some of my favorite grocery items that my family is enjoying right now. These are the groceries we absolutely can’t get enough of and have on heavy rotation.
A Dozen Cousins
If you are looking for wholesome, made from scratch food but in a convenient package, then A Dozen Cousins is perfect for you! Their products are soulfully seasoned beans cooked with avocado oil and inspired by authentic Black and Latino recipes.
My favorite right now is their Cuban Black Beans. We like to add them to rice bowls and tacos, served as a side with our favorite protein, or added to breakfast with eggs and potatoes. They have a little kick from the cayenne but nothing that overpowers the flavor of the beans and the rich blend of spices.

Bare Bones Broth
Now that my kids are in all of the extra curriculars, there is a lot of time spent away from our house. This means I lose the time I spent on making bone broths from scratch. Luckily, I can rely on Bare Bones Broth to provide the same gelatin-rich, nourishing broth that I would spend hours in the kitchen making, but in a resealable, shelf-stable pouch to use at my convenience.
We’ve been using the Grass-fed Beef Bone Broth lately by adding it to slow braised beef which I turn into beef and noodles. But, I also like to warm some up and pour it into my favorite mug and enjoy as a nourishing beverage. To me, there is nothing more satisfying and comforting than a warm cup of bone broth enjoyed on a crisp, fall day.

Bear Creek Cattle
Autumn and winter are the time of year when I am regularly braising and stewing meat. Slow and low cook methods take over while the grill takes a break for the season.
The beef stew meat from Bear Creek Cattle has been perfect for my beef and noodles! It is already cut into 2-inch pieces which saves me time prepping, and it also cuts down the time it takes to cook the meat into fork tender pieces of meat.
I also like to make chili with the beef stew meat – I braise mine in the oven with ground Italian sausage. And, another family favorite is meat and potato soup – braised beef, carrots, and potatoes in a tomato-based broth. All three dishes are my go-to’s during the fall and winter.

We have brought back some of the Nona Lim products we used to sell and brought along some new products, as well.
Nona Lim broths are so incredibly tasty! Plus, they are so good for you! Their products really help me create healthy, nourishing meals in no time flat. The broths are inspired by the Asian flavors of Nona’s Singaporean childhood. They are clean, nutrient-dense, and plant-rich.
I have been making a gluten free ramen on one of our busy weeknights using Nona Lim Laksa Rice Noodles and Miso Ramen Broth. We’ve been using chicken tenders for the protein and adding onions, maitake mushrooms, red bell peppers, and fresh cilantro. The kids absolutely love it! Plus, it fills them up and fuels them with the nutrients they need.
