Generation Green

Husband and Wife Team Keeps Columbus Green!

This Valentine’s Day got us thinking about the incredible things that loving partners can accomplish together. As a husband-and-wife-owned business, Green BEAN Delivery can certainly attest to the awesome potential of two people who share a profound love for one another and a driving passion to improve the health of their community. Heather and Steve Johnson of Generation Green are a great example. Since opening their environmentally friendly general store in 2008 they have worked hand-in-hand, making living lightly on the earth a little easier in Central Ohio. With the current renaissance of entrepreneurship in the Midwest, it’s folks like Heather and Steve who are bringing the “Mom and Pop” into the 21st century!

Heather and Steve Johnson were inspired to open Generation Green because they had difficulty finding a good selection of environmentally friendly products in stores. Sure, products were available online, but Columbus lacked a good retail shop with a knowledgeable staff. So they found a great location next to the Trader Joe’s at Sawmill and 161, and started their own. Now, if you are looking for ways to “Green” your daily life, Generation Green is the place to go!

Generation Green has a wide variety of items including house-wares, food containers, jewelry, body-care products, clothing, water bottles, composters and rain barrels. It’s a great place to go for gifts, be it Valentine’s Day or any other occasion. Heather and Steve take great care to ensure that every product in the store fits their values. They tirelessly research everything they sell, always giving preference to products that contain fewer chemicals, create minimal waste, are made locally, or promote third world development. For example, every cleaner they carry has been background checked for hazardous chemicals and tested in their own home. If it’s not good for their family, it’s not going on their shelves!

Green B.E.A.N. Delivery really admires Heather and Steve, and the work they do. We’re really fortunate to have them as Friends in Health and Wellness (they did a GREAT job supporting our Constant Canned Food Drive in December!). Definitely stop in and peruse their great line of products (and make sure you bring them a paper or cloth bag from home, they’ll reuse it instead of purchasing new bags). They also have many items available online. For updates on sales and store events, follow them on twitter @GenGreenStore or find them on facebook.
