Once again we find ourselves smack dab in the middle of holiday season. It’s amazing how quickly it comes around again, isn’t it? The holidays are great time of the year; I always remember them warmly, despite our chilly Midwest winters. Part of what makes this portion of the calendar so special is the generosity of spirit people enjoy. This is a time of giving – I’m sure that everyone will hear that over and over again until we have reached 2012, but it’s really true.
Perhaps we owe this philanthropic phenomenon to the extra time spent with family and friends; I often find that good company puts me in a giving mood. Or, maybe it’s the unique opportunity for reflection that accompanies the dwindling year encouraging us to share what we are thankful for. Whatever the reason, these are days for taking stock, digesting the year’s events (along with mashed potatoes!), focusing on the blessings we enjoy and sharing those blessings with others.
Here at Green B.E.A.N. Delivery, as we reflect on a 2011 that has been good to us, we want to do our part to give back this holiday season. Please help us help others by placing non-perishable food items in your bins when you leave them for pickup. We will deliver those items to the local foodbank and match every pound donated between December 1st and 31st with fresh produce.
For our friends in Columbus and Louisville who want to support local businesses this holiday season, or simply don’t get a bin, donations can also be left with some of our Friends in Health and Wellness. Here is a comprehensive list of dropoff locations:
