Duck Bacon BLT Sandwich

Bacon: a foodie marvel that has featured in everything from pizza to donuts. It is one of America’s favorite ingredients, making its way into classic such as potato salad, to pasta staples like carbonara. It is a delicious as it is diverse and can be found in most kitchen across the nation. But what about bacons exotic cousin, duck bacon? A rare sight in the average supermarket but it is taking the culinary world by storm. Available now through D’Artagnan Foods and Green Bean, this rich, gamey alternative to your thick or center cut rashers elevates every dish it is in, but none more than the humble BLT.

Using whole duck breasts, D’Artagnan Foods applewood-smoke their bacon to perfection bringing out notes of sugar, smoke, and game. Leaner than regular bacon, and able to be cooked medium-rare if you so desired, this is a fantastic alternative! When partnered with juicy tomatoes and crunchy lettuce you have the makings of an undeniably unique sandwich. Be sure to use fresh sourdough and a generous dollop of mayonnaise to truly pay respect to this superb cut of meat.


  1. Gently fry the duck bacon on a medium heat until cooked to taste (duck bacon can be cooked medium-rare), turn occasionally.
  2. Slicer the tomatoes on the horizontal, salt, and set aside.
  3. Peel of 2-3 lettuce leaves per sandwich, set aside
  4. Spread ½ tbsp mayonnaise on one side of each slice of bread.
  5. Once bacon is cooked, construct sandwich as desired.
