Goat Cheese and Blackberry Jam Grilled Cheese

The combo of cheese and fruit is not a completely alien concept. Cheese and wine is one of the most classic pairings of all time, a slice of traditional cheesecake with raspberry sauce is a thing of wonder, and if you look closely, the nations favorite cream cheese now comes in strawberry, blueberry…even pineapple flavor! Mixing some of the last of the late summer blackberries with a rich, flavored goat cheese makes for a unique, autumnal take on an American classic.

Amelia’s Bread create some exceptional loaves, and their Pullman Loaf, brioche like in taste and texture, is a great alternative to your typical white bread. The breads sweetness and softness caramelizes and crisps up when cooking, which is exactly what you want in a grilled cheese! The cool and creamy goat’s cheese is peppered with the familiar, warm flavors of cinnamon and maple, easing us gentle into the beginning of fall, which is when blackberries are at their absolute prime.

  1. Spread a generous spoonful of the Chevre cheese onto one slice of non-toasted bread, before layering a handful of fresh blackberries on top.
  2. On the second slice, spread a layer of the blackberry jam before constructing the sandwich.
  3. Melt half of the butter on a low heat in a skillet and add the sandwich.
  4. Grill for 1-2 minutes on either side, before setting aside to cool.
  5. Repeat with for the final two sandwiches.
