5 Favorite Local Goodies This Month

It’s the end of March and the beginning of spring, and again I am wondering where the time has gone this month. With all the amazing products we sell from local farmers and artisans, I wanted to share with you some of our favorite, local goodies we’ve had on rotation lately.

We are adding more local product in the next couple weeks, so keep on the lookout when browsing the store because we’ve got some treats for you!

Lopaus Point | Columbus, Ohio

Delicious, hand-dipped waffles free of gluten, dairy, and soy. We love all the flavors and looking forward to trying their spring-seasonal strawberry (coming soon!). My youngest loves eating the original (or banana) for breakfast every morning before school. I’m enjoying the blueberry as an afternoon snack or sometimes I have breakfast for lunch and top it with an over easy egg. No matter when we are eating Lopaus Point gluten free waffles, we are always slathering them with Kerrygold butter and drizzling with Coombs Family Farms maple syrup.

Cleveland Kraut | Cleveland, Ohio

Raw, fermented sauerkraut rich in probiotics, flavor, and crunch. My absolute favorite kraut ever! The texture is like no other kraut because they cut their cabbage and veggies thick. It has excellent crunch that adds another texture profile to whatever you are adding it to. We always make a bed of kraut to nestle our eggs into, but we also like to add it to sandwiches, hot dogs/sausages, and even top our salads with it, too.

Hartzler Family Dairy | Wooster, Ohio

We have always enjoyed Hartzler milk, so we were thrilled to see them add 8-ounce cheese blocks to their list of products. We carry all three cheeses they make – Colby, Gouda, and White Cheddar. My husband loves to snack on cheese and my daughter wants chunks of it added to her daily lunch salads. Their cheeses are Non-GMO verified and made with the same high-quality milk you find in the bottle. All three cheese varieties are delicious and are perfect for a charcuterie board or shredding and adding to pasta, soups, or even making grilled cheese sandwiches.

Carfagna’s | Columbus, Ohio

We have one night a week where we have pasta for dinner. It is usually one of our busiest nights and I need a quick, hearty meal that everyone is going to eat with zero complaints. We love their Organic Original Pasta Sauce because it is made with 100% organic ingredients, and like all their pasta sauces, it comes in a 32-ounce jar which is perfect for a bigger family.

Old Major | Indianapolis, Indiana

Old Major is an Indianapolis-based artisanal food company that specializes in the production of sausages and meats. They proudly work with Indiana farmers that implement sustainable farming practices and raised their animals without antibiotics or hormones. We carry ten varieties of their sausages with more varieties coming soon along with marinated meats. Currently, we have been enjoying their Tomato Basil Chicken Sausage. These sausages are light, flavorful, and versatile. We like to serve them with pasta or dipped in mustard and enjoyed alongside blanched green beans from Josie’s Organic and Siete’s Sea Salt and Vinegar Kettle Chips. I even like to make a breakfast hash with leftover sausages and leftover roasted potatoes. Truly very versatile!
