Peanut Butter: From Classic to Decadent

You might be like me and thoroughly enjoy a snack of peanut butter on a spoon. In fact, it’s usually my go-to pick-me-up at 3 p.m. just before I scoot off to pick up my kids from school.

Have you checked out all our peanut butters we have to offer? We have the classic, simple peanut butter for your sandwiches, but we also have peanut butter mixed with decedent flavors to enjoy as a special treat!

Justin’s is a national brand that uses the highest quality natural and organic ingredients. We carry their classic peanut butter, but also little snack packs of peanut butter and banana chips (great for lunches and snacks on-the-go) and their peanut butter squeeze packets which are a camping/hiking must-have. They also offer almond butter and chocolate hazelnut butter (my kryptonite) in the jar, as a snack pack, or squeeze packets.

Naturally Nutty is a small batch nut and seed butter company from Michigan. All their nut and seed butters are certified organic, and they are mixed with superfoods: chia, hemp, and flax. We carry their classic peanut butter, but if you are looking for a treat try their honey roasted cinnamon peanut butter! They also make an incredible almond butter, sunflower seed butter, and pepita butter which is made from pumpkin seeds!

B. Happy Peanut Butter is a small batch peanut butter company from the Indianapolis area. They create flavorful, tasty and unique peanut butter combinations that require only a spoon to enjoy them. From flavors like Count Your Blessings with dried cherries and milk chocolate to Happy Trails Mix which is trail mix and peanut butter.

Peanut Butter Yogurt Fruit Dip

One of my favorite Instagram accounts is @therealfoodrds. They posted a peanut butter yogurt fruit dip this week, and we had to check it out! It’s made with 6 ingredients and I had it whipped up in a matter of minutes. Once the kids got home from school, they picked out what fruit they wanted to eat with the dip, and they got to snackin’!

Um, this stuff is incredible! It’s so good that I had to remind myself that it was dip and I was supposed to be dipping fruit into it and not just eating it with a spoon. The flavor was instant nostalgia—it reminds me of the peanut butter and Marshmallow Fluff sandwiches we used to eat as a kid. So healthy—I know! But, you know what I’m talking about.

There is something about the yogurt and cream cheese in this recipe that mimics the consistency of marshmallow fluff and the little bit of honey and vanilla gives it that sweet flavor you associate with marshmallows. But, this dip is way healthier!

The peanut butter yogurt fruit dip makes for a perfect snack whether you are a kid or an adult. It’s packed with protein and fat to keep the kids full until dinner, so we can avoid the constant rummage through the pantry scene trying to eat every simple carb they can get their hands onto. If you have kids, I’m sure you are all too familiar with this situation.

My kids loved it so much they requested it in their lunch, and I readily agreed it sounded like a perfect, healthy addition to accompany their fruit!

Here is what we used to make this amazing dip!


Peanut Butter Yogurt Fruit Dip Recipe


1 ½ cups Snowville Plain 6% yogurt
½ cup Naturally Nutty Peanut Butter
4 ounces Organic Valley cream cheese (half a bar)
2 tablespoons local honey
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
½ teaspoon cinnamon


Add all the ingredients to a food processor or blender and pulse until smooth and combined. Transfer to a bowl and chill for 30 minutes. Serve with fresh fruit (or maybe some dark chocolate with sea salt from Theo Chocolate).

Sunflower Seed Energy Balls

I love peanut butter, but I equally love sunflower seed butter which is why I made these energy balls! They are a perfect snack! I store them in the fridge and pop a couple in my mouth before heading out the door. They have a little bit of carbs, a good amount of protein, and packed with healthy fats. Enjoy!


Sunflower Seed Energy Balls Recipe


½ cup organic, gluten free oats
1 cup SunButter
2 tablespoons coconut oil
3 tablespoons maple syrup
2 tablespoons sunflower seeds


Place the oats in a blender or food processor and blend until it becomes oat flour. Add the SunButter, coconut oil, and maple syrup, and blend until mixed. Transfer to a mixing bowl and fold in the sunflower seeds. Scoop out a tablespoon of the sunflower butter mix and roll into a ball. Place on a baking sheet. Chill for 30 minutes then enjoy! Makes 15.
