Perfect Drinks for Sober October

Have you ever heard of or participated in Sober October? It began in 2014 as a fundraising campaign for Macmillan Cancer Support, a U.K.-based charity that provides support to people living with cancer. It was started to primarily raise money, but also emphasizes the importance of checking in with yourself about your relationship with alcohol.

Benefits of Cutting Back on Alcohol

Most people that I know that participate in Sober October, do it for a break or a reason to cut back on alcohol consumption. And to reflect and evaluate their relationship with alcohol and the impact it has on their life. Not everyone who drinks has a problem with alcohol use. However, going alcohol-free for a few weeks can increase your awareness of any patterns that could pose some cause for concern. Plus, by going sober for just one month, you will likely see some other benefits such as:

  • More energy
  • Better sleep
  • Improved concentration
  • More control over your emotions
  • Less irritability and anxiety
  • Increased ability to fight off illness

Beer Substitute

Try Hoplark Hoptea. It is a craft tea that is amplified with flavorful hops. We offer four of their flavors: The Green Tea One, The Really Hoppy One, The White Tea One, and The Calm One (caffeine free).

Hard Seltzer Substitute

Try Culture Pop Soda. This is a new product we just started selling that is a probiotic soda made with organic fruit juices and real, ground organic spices and herbs. We offer five of their flavors: Ginger Lemon and Turmeric, Orange Mango Chili and Lime, Pink Grapefruit Ginger and Juniper, Watermelon Lime and Rosemary, and Wild Berries Basil and Lime.

Mixed Drink Substitute

Try making a mocktail with our all-natural mixers, kombucha, or water kefir (KeVita). Check out my blog post about Gut Health Mocktails and Appetizers for New Year’s for some recipes (my favorite right now is the Kombucha Mule). All you need is something bubbly, some sliced fruit, fruit juice, and a fancy glass and you can easily make a tasty mocktail to sip and enjoy during a social evening.
